Kushners & Trump Donated to Chabad

It may seem strange for a Jewish Modern Orthodox family to join a synagogue in Chabad. But Ivanka Trump and her husband Jared Kushner are already quite invested in the movement for ultra-Orthodox outreach-or, more precisely, their parents. Even before Trumps daughter, who converted to Judaism, was married, President-elect Donald Trump also contributed to the Chabad charitable causes. All in all, the Donald J. Trump Foundation gave three Chabad institutions $11,550. The Donald J. Trump Foundation made two donations to Chabad in 2008, a year before Ivanka Trump married Kushner-$6,750 to the Lubavitch Youth Organization in Brooklyn and $1,800 to Southampton Jewish Charity Chabad. In 2011, the foundation donated $3,000 to East Boca Raton ‘s Chabad-an institution that the Kushners also supported. The charitable foundation of Trump has made many donations over the years to Jewish causes. For example, in 2003, he handed over a check to the Friends of Beit El Institutions for $10,000. The bankruptcy lawyer, Trump’s nominee for ambassador to Israel, David Friedman, serves as the president of the organization; Trump made the donation in honor of Friedman.
