Donald Trump donated 100,000 dollars to the National September 11 Memorial & Museum in downtown Manhattan and he used the occasion to make a covert jab with his rival Ted Cruz. A museum spokesperson confirmed on Monday that Trump made a monetary donation but did not provide further details.
A photograph on his official Twitter account was posted by the Republican presidential candidate during the weekend showing him and his wife Melania to the museum. ” A big honor for visiting with my wife the 9/11 Memorial Museum,” Trump wrote with the hashtag #NewYorkValues. Earlier this year, Cruz accused Trump of having “New York values “and subsequently explained that the term refers to the socially and politically liberal inclinations of the State.
Trump’s campaign stated that the pair was incredibly impressed with the museum as a monument to all the wonderful people who tragically have lost their lives and their families who suffered so greatly. The statement stated that it’s also symbolic of our country’s strength, particularly New Yorkers, who have done such an incredible work to reconstruct that devastated city.
Trump and its president and CEO Joe Daniels, as well as other museum and local police officials visited the museum the weekend. The donation will take place several days before the New York Primaries scheduled for 19 April. Trump, a New Yorker born and bred, is polling ahead of his hotly contested republican rivals.
