This month at the Trump National Golf Club in Briarcliff Manor, New York, a competitive spirit was in the air.

NBA All-Star Alonzo Mourning and friends Shaquille O’Neal and Donald Trump, who together hosted the 4th Annual Zo’s Million Dollar Shootout on Monday, August 20, led the excitement. The three celebrities, all sharing a passion for empowering and educating young people today, came together to support Alonzo Mourning Charities, a foundation that supports underserved young people and provides them with services. Trump also donated to another basketball related charity when he donated $25,000 to the Slam Jam women’s basketball league of New York City in 2003.

“Zo’s Million Dollar Shootout is just one of several annual fundraising events hosted by Alonzo Mourning Charities to raise awareness and funds. As long as we continue to witness the hurdles facing our young people when they grow up without resources or supportive environments, our charitable efforts will continue, “said Alonzo Mourning, Emeritus Chairman of Alonzo Mourning. “The golf tournament is a great event that brings together people who recognize our shared responsibility for investing in the future of our young people.”

The proceeds from Zo’s Million Dollar Shootout are dedicated to making a difference for children living in situations at risk.

In the ongoing pursuit of its mission to improve the lives of these young people, Alonzo Mourning Charities is building youth centers across the country in targeted areas to meet an essential need.

“This is what we know-if we can have a positive impact, we’ll make it happen. There were no questions asked. This is my second year for the charity and Alonzo and I’m so close now because I’m committed to this partnership and make a difference throughout the community,”-Shaq is part of Zo’s Million Dollar Shootout. Tournament participants had the opportunity to win one million dollars.

Although no one walked away with this year’s big prize, everyone enjoyed the popular premium gift bag when they arrived, a reception for breakfast, unlimited gourmet food and delicious drinks from sponsors Tanqueray Rangpur and Vitamin Water. Popular highlights were a live auction with exclusive opportunities, including a private dinner with Alonzo Mourning and his personal chef, a weekend package for NBA All-Star, full accommodation for the People’s Choice Awards and a unique exclusive tour of the Vatican.

The event ended with a prize ceremony honoring the day’s great winners.
